    I thought I had cleaned up my process tree, and I've run the latest anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc. - however, I'm still baffled by some entries in my task manager (I'm running Windows 7, 64-bit).

    In particular, I can't seem to find out what fourengine.exe is? Is this malicious/ can I safely terminate it, or do I need to leave it alone? Any help or guidance is much appreciated!

    FourEngine.exe is a utility that comes with Asus computers. It is an EPU that helps regulate power consumption, thereby optimizing your PC to use less power. It's an environmentally-friendly application that I don't recommend uninstalling.

    Unless, of course, you're not running an Asus, in which case I don't think it should be present? Can anyone confirm?

    It's running on my computer which I built myself.
    It was software that came with my Motherboard, I assumed it was to help it deal with my Quad Core processor.
    Quad=4
