I'm trying to launch SMPlayer (the GUI for Mplayer) in Windows 7, and it keeps crashing whenever I try and play a video. It used to work, but lately seems to crash. When I click "details" for the error it lists a bunch of fonts it appears to be scanning, but I can't tell what's going on exactly.

Anyone know how to get SMPlayer working in Windows 7?

I had this same problem when I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. I think it has to do with SM Player's font-finding feature. To resolve the crashing:

    1) Open SMPlayer and browse to the "Options" menu (click the >> arrow if you don't see it)
    2) Select "Preferences"
    3) Select the last item in the list at left - "Advanced"
    4) Click on the "Options for MPlayer" tab at right
    5) In the "Options:" field enter "-nofontconfig" and click OK

Restart SMPlayer and try loading your video. It should no longer crash.
