Is there a way to setup a page so that a left-click will download a file, as opposed to the usual right-click > "save target as..."?

I need the left-click instant download functionality because clients tend to left click on movie files, which then begin playing automatically and put a taxing load on the server.

If I could circumvent this by having the file automatically download (ie. be treated as "save target as..." with a left-click), I wouldn't have this problem.
